AUSTRALIA – A HISTORY OF FIRE & HOW IT CAN HELP IN FUTURE?

Australia has faced immense challenges due to dangers and hazards caused by bushfire and wildfire in their forests
Australia Wild Fire

Australia has a history of wildfires in the forest due to the amount of heat generated in the forests lately for many decades. Known as the fire continent of the Globe, Australia island of the forest with a huge area i.e. 16% of the total land covered in forests. The history of bush fires has caused many people dying and this has been a challenge for the Australian Govt. since the fire became a common trait.

The historical data, analysis and previous workings are critical in resolving fire issues in the future. An eye on the history of fires not only helps in sustaining the losses but is also a catalyst in combatting the climate change issues. The history dates back to the times of the early human settlements in Australia and when the invasion of the continent took place.

In the early times it was taken as a celebration as early Australians the aborigines celebrated their land, the fire, hunted, cooked, and used it to good effect to manage the vast land. Some of the land management practices included ‘Cultural burning’ i.e. coming from primitive times. The process helps in the prevention of fire risks and protecting native habitats.

According to some ecologists’ environmentalists in Australia, they think that in some ecologies in the Aussie land the things have mostly differed due to the Geographical reasons. A true example is the mountain ash forest of southeast Australia.

The future implications also include the Hazard reduction burns to be part of the hazards process. The primary benefits also include reducing the amount of fuel on the grounds of bushland, forest, and grasslands. In most catastrophic and destructive conditions wind is the less driving factor than anything else and finally, the fuel holds lesser importance.
