ROBERRIES CUT AT PEEL CIRCLE

HOW ONE SIMPLE IDEA HAS CUT ROBBERIES AT PEEL CIRCLE BY 18%

The cutting down of robberies at Peel Circle, the location of Circle K is a huge advantage for the store. It is in the times when robberies are very common and here they have been cut down by 18%.  The best thing they have done lately as preventive measures is that they have removed the posters from the windows that create a sightline from the street to the cash register. This has helped in the reduction of robberies by a huge 18% after the shop owners removed posters from certain windows. The program that Circle K adopted is known as the clear zone program. This was adapted by Circle K back in 2013 when the local police came up with the idea. According to the police constable Amy Bourdeau, hence when the company approached with the idea. Seeing directly into a store and the visibility can scare criminals in going forward with the crime as they are most likely to be caught.

The expansion of the program as part of the security awareness measures has expanded in many other cities. The cities include Thunder Bay, Ottawa i.e. the capital city, and Toronto the biggest city of Canada. Transparency in the store anywhere in the city is an immediate security measure. This is for the shop keeper to be aware of what’s going to happen and how they can have doubts over someone who can be dangerous. According to Sportun that removing of the Signs from the windows is a very evident indication of the security measures that are being adopted by the shop keepers. It’s not only good for the customers but also an awareness sign for the rest of the people.

The regional police from Peel have been working with Circle K regards to a warning sticker that needs to be on the door for the ‘Roberry prevention program’.
